Vanilla is considered to be one of the staple hookah flavors for many people. Social Smoke has put out a French Vanilla flavor that I was excited to try out. I am a huge fan of real vanilla and I knew that Social Smoke was proud of their flavors so I was hopeful that the name was accurate.
My first smell of the tobacco was but pleasing and displeasing at the same time. While it did not smell like a true French Vanilla it did smell like cake batter. It smells like the white cake batter from a box. Slightly artificial vanilla notes with a ton of sweetness.
The flavor was much of the same. I wouldn’t call it complex in any way but I would call it tasty. Right now this is my favorite modern vanilla flavor. It tastes like it smells but a bit lighter which is good. Otherwise I could see this getting really sickeningly sweet and cloying very fast. This flavor avoids that problem fairly well.
I think that the main purpose of vanilla flavored tobacco is mixing. If you mix this with just about anything it’s going to add sweetness and creaminess to the blend. Vanilla is such a versatile flavor that I can’t think of anything that would not go well with it. Everything from fruit flavors to florals and spices.
7 out of 10. Don’t expect an accurate vanilla flavor. Think white cake and you are on the right path. Dinged once for improvement, once for price and once for being a inaccurate. It’s tasty and I recommend Social Smoke French Vanilla to you. I love using tobacco like this to enhance the flavor and extend the life of other favorite blends.
