Mint is a mandatory flavor for both the tobacco maker and the smoker. I have yet to find a brand that doesn’t have a mint flavor and there should be mint in every smoker’s collection for mixing and a little refreshment from time to time. It’s time to put Al Waha Mint to the test and see if it’s worthy of a place in my stash.

Al Waha Mint

The packaging starts out standard enough, but I found the pouch containing the tobacco splitting open a bit. That should not negatively influence the product. It smell like weak mint with some earthy tones that I assume are from the tobacco. There are hints of vegetal, grassy elements. The look of this tobacco is similar to a finely mulched pile of grass clippings. It is almost paste like and I found it difficult to fluff, so I went with a denser pack similar to the density in the pouch. The artificial color is just unnecessary and I think it’s actually giving this tobacco an unappealing appearance. I packed it in my crown classic mini as normal and started my session.

The flavor was a bit disappointing. I found it to be weak and lacking that mentholated punch that I crave in mint. There is almost no cooling effect, but the actual mint flavor is somewhat natural and slightly sweet. The notes of vegetation come through in the flavor, but they are mellow an not overwhelming.

If you’re looking for a mint that is going to punch you in the face like Nakhla Mizo, move along. This isn’t a mint that is going to knock your socks off. My socks are thoroughly planted. I don’t see this blending very well because it would easily be overpowered and lost in the mix. I wish it were stronger and I find myself feeling a bit unsatisfied. I you’re looking for a mellow mint that isn’t aggressive, you might like this one, but I won’t be keeping this on hand with much better options on the market.
