There seem to be new brands popping up every few months in the world of hookah tobacco and I find the vast majority of them to be summarily boring. They offer very little that is exciting while trying to advertise themselves as something amazingly new when what I really want is something old-school. And I’m talking OLD-school.

I have made it clear before that, while I can enjoy modern shisha tobacco, I am a big fan of traditional flavors and real tobaccos. Sadly these kinds of tobacco have always been rare and hard to find in a sea of apple-martini, pink lemonade and bubblegum flavored products. Happily, Medwakh.com has stepped up to the plate. This website has worked hard in the past to find and import rare tobaccos that would otherwise be unavailable. These were almost always in limited supply, but they want to change that.

Othmani Shisha Tobacco is a line devoted to a more traditional hookah experience. While many of the basic flavors are going to be familiar and popular fruits, these blends are geared more toward complimenting the rich flavors of the tobacco leaves rather than hiding them. This is something that I am very excited about. A few other brands have done this with varied success, but the folks behind this line are real tobacco geeks (like yours truly) who I believe will treat the leaves with the respect they deserve.

The tobacco itself is actually Turkish in origin and a much darker and more flavorful leaf than the light Virginia that most modern tobaccos utilize. These are not black moassels and they are definitely not juraks, but they sure aren’t Starbuzz either. I believe these are unwashed tobaccos and should produce a more robust flavor as well as smoking experience than the average US smoker is used to.

I am excited to get my hands on some of these blends to see how well the flavors play off each other and you should be too. This could be a big step in the right direction for those of use that actually enjoy smoking tobacco. Also, BAKLAVA FLAVORED HOOKAH TOBACCO! I can’t be the only one who is excited about that.
